How to buy breathable underwear in 10 steps-

If you look up “breathable” in the dictionary, Merriam-Webster defines the word as meaning 1) suitable for breathing, and 2) allowing air to pass through; porous.

Look, we get it. When you think of all the purchases in your life that should be breathable—bed sheets, rain jackets, running socks—underwear may not come to mind first. 

But let us paint a semi-uncomfortable picture for you.

When you wear non-breathable underwear, the fabric can become too warm… then you get uncomfortably sweaty… then you itch… then you get yeast infections. (Okay maybe that’s not literally the journey every single time, but it’s pretty gross.)

On the flip side, when you wear breathable underwear, you’re not only setting yourself up for long-lasting comfort (ie. better productivity, more happiness, less whining), you’re also creating hygienic conditions for your lady parts.

So let’s go shopping. Here’s how to buy truly BREATHABLE underwear. 

1) Look for natural fibers:

cotton gusset, or even better silk underwear. While synthetic fibers can be sweat-wicking, they tend to cause itchiness down under.

2) Choose a lightweight fabric.

3) Go for a cut that fully covers your backside.
