Who Is Sheryl Sandberg?

Born in August of ‘69 in Washington, DC, Sheryl was a whiz in her school days, earning a 4.6 GPA in high school and then moving on to Harvard, where she received a prize for being the top graduating student in economics.

She later received her Masters of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Sandberg is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Facebook where she oversees sales, marketing, business development, human resources, public policy, and communications.

She also previously worked for Google as the Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations. This inspirational woman has made it onto Fortune Magazine’s annual list of the 50 most powerful women in business SIX times.

Why We Love Her

We love Sheryl Sandberg for too many reasons to count, but if we had to pick just three, here’s what we’d choose -

• Sandberg is a highly influential activist in the fight for gender equality. She authored the groundbreaking and best-selling book, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. Lean In is a “feminist manifesto” that discusses the lack of women in leadership roles and empowers women to reach their potential.
  

• Sheryl Sandberg also spearheaded a campaign to ultimately encourage and support the development of leadership skills among young girls. The Ban Bossy campaign urges people everywhere to remove the limiting word “bossy” from their vocabulary.
