Friday may get all the glory, but it wouldn’t arrive without its opening act, Thursday. And that’s precisely why Thursday is Hannah Jordow’s favorite day of the week. Well that, and the fact that she gets to enjoy her favorite run of the week.

An avid runner training to run the Boston Marathon with her dad to support Samaritans Hope, Hannah lives in South Boston with her boyfriend, Matt and four-month old puppy, Thacher. She works in tech sales, and helps run a women's employee resource group at her company, throwing events that create a sense of community and empowerment.

Between training and work, her schedule is capital-B busy. “When I'm not at work, I am either running, working out at my favorite gym (BronCore Fitness) or spending time with Matt, Thacher, family, and friends,” says Hannah. “We love taking Thacher on long walks on our favorite beach, Long Beach in Rockport, MA.” In fact, she says, “Thacher is named after a small island off of that beach!”

Ahead, Hannah shares more about how she spends her Thursdays, the poignant meaning behind her run club, and more in our latest Day in Brief.

Uwila Warrior: What is your favorite day of the week?

Hannah Jordow: Thursday.

UW: How is that day different from the others?

Hannah: It's almost Friday!

UW: How does the day start for you?

Hannah: My Thursday mornings are spent running three miles around the Castle Island loop with my friends who started Almost Friday Run Club in South Boston. Almost Friday Run Club Boston was started in honor of our friend, Sam, who passed away last August running the Santa Rosa marathon. He founded AFRC New York as a way to connect with friends and meet new people through running, which was something he loved so much. Now we get to carry on his legacy every Thursday morning and share his love for running with our fabulous group of runners in Boston!

UW: What about the afternoon?

Hannah: My afternoon is spent at my office getting to connect with my peers as we wrap up our last in-office day of the week. We usually end the day with a drink to celebrate the upcoming weekend!

UW: What does a perfect evening for you look like?

Hannah: My perfect Thursday evening consists of coming home from work, taking Thacher for a walk with Matt, cooking dinner, and curling up on the couch to watch a show together!

UW: What habits or moments during the day give you strength?

Hannah: Seeing my friends bright and early and getting to share a run with them recharges my battery and sets the tone for the rest of the day. I am lucky to incorporate this run into my training block for the Boston Marathon and be able to share those moments with them while I prepare for the race!

UW: How do you power down at night?

Hannah: At night I power down by being present with Matt and Thacher, this means putting the phone away and just enjoying being together and sharing the highs and lows of our day. We always end the night with an episode or two of The Office before bed!

As a proud Boston-based brand, we want to honor our favorite springtime event—The Boston Marathon. Commemorate the occasion with our special edition running undies, available in VIP Thong and Happy Seams Brief styles.
