The Best Women’s Underwear for Yeast Infections

It happens almost out of nowhere. You’re doing your thing, presenting like a boss, shuffling the kids around, hitting up yoga, and then BOOM—you get the itch and you just know. Ugh. Another yeast infection.

Get this: three out of four women will have a yeast infection at some point in their lives. (Who are you, fourth woman, and why are you superhuman?) And not only that, but almost half of women have two or more

The good news is, whether or not you’re prone to yeast infections, there are steps we can take to help prevent them in the first place.

But first, what exactly is a yeast infection?

According to Mayo Clinic, a vaginal yeast infection is a “fungal infection that causes irritation, discharge, and intense itchiness of the vagina and the vulva—the tissues at the vaginal opening.”

It’s also called vaginal candidiasis, and other symptoms may include a burning sensation, swelling, rash, or soreness.

The fungus candida albicans is to blame for most cases. It’s rarely serious though, and medications can effectively treat yeast infections.

That said, there are three underwear rules every woman should follow to help avoid yeast infections altogether. Here they are.

  1. Choose silk underwear.

Uwila Warrior’s silk underwear line. All Uwila Warrior underwear styles are moisture-wicking wizards, but if you’re going to start somewhere, start with the Soft Silks. Here’s why:

-  They’re made of 100% silk. That’s 100% fabric that will wick away moisture AND dry fast, keeping you cool and dry in every situation. Repeat after us: silk is one of the healthiest underwear choices you can make.

- Our Soft Silk panties are the ultimate wedgie slayer. If you’re someone who sweats excessively, the last thing you need to be doing is twisting your body around to fix the fit of your undies and pull a wedgie out of its place. These Soft Silks stay put. Under anything you wear.

- We offer sizes from XS to 3X. Pick what you think is best for your body, and we’ll make sure you’re happy with it. And here’s the thing about our underwear: we don’t just make them bigger as they size up and vice versa. We change the cut altogether to perfectly match women's’ different body types.

- Soft Silks with Lace. Soft Silk Underwear with Sayings. Soft Silks underwear with Days of the Week. If ever there were a variety of the same, perfect underwear for excessive sweating, this is it. Browse our array of colors and sayings, and give them a test run—literally, go for a run, and let us know how dry you feel.

  1. Change your underwear often.

Moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. So in addition to changing your underwear daily, you should also swap them for a fresh pair whenever your underwear does get damp—after a workout, a hot day, or a hot date. Moisture-wicking fabric definitely helps (a la rule #1), but at some point, the jig is up and dampness is inevitable. (Great excuse to add more pairs to your underwear drawer, right? Gotta avoid those infections!)

The same goes for swimsuits. As tempting and convenient it is to spend the day in the same wet bathing suit, you’re not doing your nether regions any favors by keeping it damp down there. Stay dry, period!

  1. Wear the right size underwear.

Avoiding tight underwear is also a common suggestion among health professionals for avoiding yeast infections. You have to let her breathe—the more breathable, the better. (Here’s how to buy breathable underwear in 10 steps.

To get the right fit, buy a pair according to the sizing guide and customer reviews, try it on for yourself, and go from there. If it’s just a bit too tight, return or exchange it! FYI: Uwila Warrior offers a Perfect Fit Guarantee. If you don’t love your first pair of Uwila Warrior underwear, we’ll send you a different size or style of a similar price point, free of charge. Plus, you can keep your first pair.
